A new year, a new beginning but the same old Congo. To be honest, its not that bad - it kinda grows on you. Have a look at this picture and see for yourself.

This picture has been taken by my colleague, Mojahid Rahman who is an IT guru as well as a very good photographer. You can see more from his album Beauty of Brazzaville on Flickr.
Coming back to the new year; so what is your new year resolution? The best one I have come across is from another colleague... "leave congo by the end of the year". I guess it is not growing on everyone equally.
Wishing you a very happy new year.

Salaam
I hope all is well with you. Thank you for wishing New Year.
Life is somehow backing to normal but there is something wrong inside everybody's mind. It’s a feeling. Most of people are more than happy if they get a choice to leave this province (atleast) or leave the country at all.
You can easily count 10 times more ppl died & vehicle burned & things damaged than the actual figure mentioned. I m not joking boss, 10 times high is not my imagination, its truth. I heard from relatives/friends from interior.
When benazir was shot, same day sukkur jail broken, 150 prisoners ran away, and then 100s of prisoners were broken lockups from several cities in interior. First, they looted Gun shops. Then looted & burned everything they saw.
They stopped trains, cars, busses, looted every single person calmly, even cuff links from shirts, picked young women, etc. So many chants of separating sindh from Pakistan.
Sad after sad n so on.
Karachi was burning as well. Every major connecting road was stuck by burning vehicles. I was also one of thousands people who reach home after several hours. Reach home by going across burning vehicles which we normally seen in movies.
No New Year celebrations as karachiites usually did.
Pray for Pakistan.
*** Your friend is a very good photographer, i saw few pictures from that link. give my regards to him as well. Thanks once again.
Take care.
